Holiday Inn Express Washington DC Downtown by IHG

Awesome stay

We went there for a 2 nights and this hotel was the best option that I can get, in the center of Washington, close to everything, as soon as you go on the street you feel free and peace to walk, closer restaurants, closer options for parking if you want to use the parking lot at the hotel, comfortable bed but definitely the location is the best. The staffs on the front desk and on the breakfast C-section so friendly and nice. Definitely we gonna come back.

Front desk and valet service were incredibly helpful and kind during our stay.

The room was clean, and the staff was professional and courteous. However, on the floor where we were staying, there was a room that was consistently left open and contained two garbage pails that were often overflowing with trash, regardless of the time of day. It was unpleasant to walk past this area and detracted from the otherwise clean appearance of the hotel. I would recommend that this area be monitored more frequently and that the garbage be removed regularly.

Close to Chinatown and the Whitehouse.

The check-in receptionist was incredibly customer-service oriented and very friendly, while also supportive and professional. The valet attendant was also very friendly, professional and helpful. Access for check-in if unloading a car is very difficult. Valet parking is excessively expensive!

Breakfast was so good!! Staff was very friendly and attentive!!

Cons: 1. Room had an old but present odor of smoke, and maybe one of the worse views ever of AC compressors from the bottom floor of the courtyard. When we asked for a change we were told that it was sold out and that we should have asked for the change before we checked in (?!) I pointed out that one would not see a room to ask for a change before they checked in. Also it should be noted that this room was a step higher than what should be their basic room in that it had a sofa, There is also a huge number of the National Guard living in this hotel. (Not a pro or con, just limits rooms). 2. I had emailed the manager in advance to make sure we could valet our F150 and never got a response, this was disappointing. 3. Hotel lobby restrooms had no water when we arrived. 4. About 60% of the snacks were out of stock 5. Valet app (on super $$ parking) only worked 40% of the time. Overall I felt like this place was just ok, my son just moved across the street so I was hoping it would be a bit better since we will be down here often. I will be trying some other local places in the future.
