Great location! Easy parking That said, several things in the room were in disrepair…the pocket door was off the guides so we couldn’t use it, the tv didn’t turn on, and front door was a challenge to operate. Things that need to be checked/addresses between guests. We only stayed one night so it didn’t affect us that much…

The hotel was lovely, but the staff could have been a bit more attentive and polite, especially considering the price we paid. Improving their customer service skills would really make a difference. I feel terrible for writing this review since I work in customer service. It’s the one thing you can control is the customer experience.

Excellent facility. Great location, comfortable bed and excellent breakfast.

The room was spacious and clean. A little outdated but cute in its own way. We chose a room with fireplace but had a hard time turning it on. The hotel itself needs a little upkeeping and renovating. The setback for me was the front desk. I am on crutches due to broken foot and booked an ADA room. When we checked in the girl gave us the key to our room and told us the elevator near that room wasn’t working so we’d have to catch the elevator down the hall. It was quite a walk especially for someone on crutches. We asked if there was another room closer to the elevator and she said the room she assigned was the room we booked for. We were not asking for an upgrade bc I’m on crutches, but simply a room closer to a working elevator. I broke my foot not the elevator! I was exhausted by the time I got to the working elevator. Hospitality was very disappointing.

    Passable

We arrived at 10 PM with my wife, sister, and 3-year-old toddler in a full-size Ford Expedition. The front desk staff directed us to an underground garage with zero open spots. We had to unload everything by the elevator while my sister and I hauled bags and a toddler upstairs, forcing my wife to reverse back out to the lobby. Luckily, a kind maintenance guy moved his personal vehicle so she could park. The Junior Suite was gorgeous, but settling in brought endless surprises. Pulling out the sofa bed, we found dirty crumbs on the sheets and springs poking through. Then came dinner: ants had completely taken over the counter by the microwave. After wiping them down, I tried taking a shower. I pulled the handle to switch to the showerhead, and the entire piece snapped out, spraying water everywhere! Fortunately, the suite had a second, smaller shower by the toilet. The next morning, we headed down for breakfast. Assuming it was in the lobby, I asked the front desk agent, who barely looked up from his keyboard before vaguely gesturing behind me. We wandered blindly until another guest pointed us around the corner and down the stairs to the business center (warning us not to get our hopes up, though the food was fine). Shoutout to the maintenance guy who gave up his parking spot, but housekeeping, pest control, and front desk service need a serious overhaul.

Room was real nice but floor was not properly cleaned.

Great location but lacking on some amenities. No air conditioning or heater in the junior king suite. There is a fireplace but it’s “use at your own risk” per the signage. The shower had a hard time draining and you stand in a pool while you’re using it. Staff at the front desk was not the most engaging or overly helpful in the beginning, but a second employee helped us with checking in who did a little better. There is a basic continental breakfast that’s complementary between 7-10 am which was nice. Old Fishermans Wharf is across the street, the night life on Alvarado street is a short walk away, and the free trolley that runs between downtown and cannery row picks you up right outside the hotel. Ultimately, compared to the other hotels in the area, it’s nice option if you’re looking to save a few bucks.

This hotel is beautiful & is close to everything. The rooms are spacious & nice . The breakfast was good. My only complaint was that our room was on the ground floor facing the street. I asked to change rooms if possible but staff member said no because all pet friendly rooms were on the ground floor. The 2nd floor also has street side because the hotel sits on different levels. She did not even discuss other rooms options with me. We pay an additional $50 for our pet & we don’t get other options. This isn’t right.

Great place to stay in Monterey. I come every year for car week and have stayed numerous places, this is one I'll come back to.

This was a lovely place to stay - as we are local, having our floors redone. The luxury junior suite - had very roomy space, a fireplace, little balcoy and little table/ktichen area. We were extremely pleased with the space, location in MRY and price. We'll go there again when needed and highly recommend it to visitors.

Room was dirty. A hole in the ceiling in the room, everything was dirty. Visible grime in bathtub and dirt on the ground. The room felt very dirty and bad taste in design. I felt like it was a motel 6 in a rough area. Outdoor furniture was missing cushions. Bad lighting in the room. Overalls regretted staying here and would not recommend to anyone at all. Will avoid this place. Feels like I’d be bringing home bedbugs from this place. So disgusting, felt uncomfortable. Pictures look clean and updated but in person it’s poorly cleaned, not updated, and VERY worn down.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Room was clean and staff were nice, but the bed wasn’t that comfortable and the folding out couch bed was awful. Also Cannery Row is definitely not as close as they claim. I think k to the start of it takes 18 minutes and there isn’t much right at the start.

    Very disappointed,expected better service.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Perfect location close to Fisherman’s wharf and downtown. Scenic walk to Cannery Row. Amazing mantelpiece fireplace in every spacious room. Beautiful, extended property. A very comforting stay.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

The rooms a great: roomy and well-designed. But the property could use a facelift. It's the perfect spot for more than one person who might need a small kitchen

Staff was nice and upgraded our room when she found out we were celebrating our 13th anniversary.
