This is a beautiful property! You can tell even the guests take care of it. I loved the complementary tea time and sunset wine and antipasto time. The bikes are also complementary. It makes sense why it’s expensive (to some), they give you so much. Just a block away from the beach in the quiet part of town…Couldn’t ask for more. The minus 1 star is because a server confused me with the other woman of color at the property who looked nothing like me except for our skin.

The Victorian setting takes you back in time so that you can almost feel the people from 1850 walking the halls. The staff was about as courteous and friendly as any staff coulkd be. Always smiling and cheerfull. The accomodations were very clean, the bed comfortable and the breakfasts out of this world great. Thanks for a very enjoyable weekend for my wife and I.

Very nice stay. Clean room. Friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious.

Proximity to the beach was great—just a block away. The exterior of the property was quite nice with a large wide porch. The serving staff was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The room was small, unattractive, dark with only one window. The bathroom was smaller than any bathroom I've used, with a teeny tiny shelf for personal items. The AC was a window model that was ineffective: it cooled the bedroom, not the bath, and it needed to be turned up high in order to keep the room cool. The room was not as clean as one would expect, and there was a musty, mildewed atmosphere. It was not a comfortable room to relax in: we used it to shower and sleep and left it as early as possible each day.

The location. It is in the quieter end of cape may, but close to walk to all the restaurants etc. And although I’m not into the Victoriana thing, the history of the place is pretty cool. It is a historic hotel, but the modern updates made it fairly comfortable and we appreciated having generous power strips on both sides of the bed where to plug in our electronics (something that newer, modern hotels often fail to provide). Another nice thing is that, in addition to an over the top breakfast, they offer afternoon tea and, later, wine cheese in the early evening The room was quite small. The updates made it fairly comfortable but it was tight. There was a sorry little tv on a cute wicker table. Why bother with a tv? I’d rather have had a mini-fridge and a kettle to boil water for my (very early) morning coffee.

Staff were very welcoming and attentive. The centuries-old property was well-maintained and charming and a great location close to the beach. Breakfast was delicious. Afternoon wine was a wonderful treat!

Great breakfast and location. Quiet hotel.

The location is beautiful and the staff are amazing. I would agree with some of the other reviews...while the bedding and bathroom was very clean, there were some other areas that could use a good cleaning...baseboards, etc.

Beautiful building with charm and history. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Quiet side of Cape May with great ocean access. Bikes and beach towels are included. Substantial breakfast as well as afternoon tea and evening wine and cheese were a plus. Wish they had a workout room with weights.

Overall a good experience. Friendly&Attentive staff. Clean. The room shower&tub were a bit difficult for me. For a younger person might not be a problem to lift legs to get into the tub to shower The tub & shower. Dated and I think for Us older folks a bit difficult. I would recommend a renovation. It might take away from the Victorian Charm however safety is important.
