The hotel wasn’t bad but the room I had wasn’t an updates room were the connecting room we had was more modest.

Great location, within easy reach of Union Station and a short Metro ride away from major attractions. The little indoor pool was a nice addition. Good showers, and responsive staff when we were checked into a room with no AC: we were moved quickly. Fridge and microwave in the rooms, and onsite laundry. It’s an older property that’s beginning to look a bit down at heel. The pool was tiny and got crowded and noisy at certain times. AC was really, REALLY loud.

My room was the size of a studio apartment. It included a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a large screen TV. The bathroom was decent sized. There was adequate closet space and plenty of towels. Hotel staff were polite and professional, especially the front desk and housekeeping staff. During check-in, I received a list of restaurants within walking distance. It was a definite plus that the NoMa-Gallaudet Red Line subway stop was literally around the corner. In addition to the restaurants, I found a liquor store. A 7-11 is steps from the subway entrance. Not much to complain about. The headboard looked a little worn. The water fixture for the shower (the hot and cold water switch) was a little loose. There were some water stains on the interior metal portion of the shower area. A had a wash cloth that was a bit worn; it had a small hole in it.

The neighborhood is a bit sketchy. Ther was a guy who set up residence on the sidewalk across the street the entire 5 days we were there, several people begging for money, and armed security at the entrance to the Harris Teeter. The local professionals didn't seem to be bothered by this element, and the hotel does a good job keeping you safe indoors, but I was not a fan. Taking all of this into account, I would stay again.

15 min walk to Union Station. Near everything, including a market.

My hotel stay was short but pleasant. I was concerned because of the reviews, I read about the homeless ppl in the area. Although there are a couple in the vicinity (not inside) it wasn't nerve-racking . I never felt unsafe nor did they bother me. The hotel was clean and it smelled good. My room was clean, the beds were comfy. There was an issue with the tub filling up as I showered. It was resolved immediately. There is a supermarket on the corner which was wonderful. There is a train station directly around the corner from the supermarket which we used to get to the museums and the monuments as well as the zoo.I didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, however I did eat at the restaurants around the hotel. I did use the pool which is the only thing I seen that can use some maintenance. My family used the gym it wasn't fancy but it served it's purpose. The front desk staff was polite and helpful when needed. Jackie and Ebony went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again for my next visit to DC.
