The staff were super friendly and helpful, both at the front desk and the bar. I really enjoyed the building, the decorations lean into its history and make the place feel special. The area around the hotel isn’t the best, so just be careful walking around there. I had a couple people harass me when trying to get to the Metro stop nearby.

Great stay gorgeous hotel

This beautiful historic hotel is in downtown St. Paul with a beautiful view of the Capitol, close to the metro trams, museums and lots of historic sites. The decor of the hotel and bar are reminiscent of the days of old. The breakfast area was comfortable with a nice daily selection. The bar is classic with a friendly staff. As stated, there is no parking on site. We spent $20-30 per night at a local garage. The television guide displayed a variety of channels, but about 15 of the stations were unavailable. We also had issues with our AC, which were quickly resolved. The fire station and trams can be noisy. It’s noisy during the day, but all quiets down in the evening.

It is a great location, we were able to take public transportation or walk everywhere we wanted to go. We went to the state fair twice in one day on the bus , which was only a block away. Great staff, comfortable room; only thing was their water refill station not working but hopefully they will get that fixed soon.

Enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel. The architecture is beautiful throughout. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. Shower was nice. Breakfast buffet offered everything from eggs to cinnamon coffee cake. The bar is cozy and inviting. We walked to 1881 for dinner and the farmers market the next morning. Very delightful stay.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff and a decent breakfast every morning. Felt very safe as a woman traveling alone.

My stay here was fine, nice and quiet. The vibe / room decor was different than what I expected based on the lobby & entrance so that threw me a little bit, & I wasn’t sure if all the staff enjoyed their employment. The bar is lovely.

Wonderful place! We always stay here when visiting family.

Great location and very nice breakfast with numerous options. No complaints

Loved this boutique hotel. It has a lot of charm and character. The breakfast was fairly standard, but still quite good. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends.

The hotel was so cool and beautiful and we loved the little kitschy nods to the church. Breakfast was yummy and well stocked. No complaints!

We love the Celeste! Third time’s a charm. It’s a quirky boutique hotel with a good vibe. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the property (albeit historic) has good handicap accommodations. The accessible room we stayed in on the second floor was outstanding! Definitely our favorite St Paul hotel!

The staff was wonderful, the hotel was gorgeous, and breakfast in the old chapel was such a unique experience. The location is also great for exploring downtown St. Paul. Now, because I'm me, I obviously had to Google whether a 100+ year-old former convent was haunted. I didn't find anything convincing, but shortly afterward THREE very well-fed gray pigeons appeared outside our window about three feet away and proceeded to sit there cooing. Were they ordinary downtown St. Paul pigeons? Probably. Were they three former nuns checking to make sure we were enjoying our stay? I cannot confirm or deny. Either way, they were polite and caused no problems. In all seriousness, Celeste is one of those hotels that becomes part of the trip instead of just being somewhere you sleep. Beautiful, historic, comfortable, unique, and memorable. We would absolutely stay here again—and apparently, we already have friends on the outside.

Very good

The basement / ground floor rooms are so dank, damp and depressing. It’s really gross down there. The musty smell is really bad, and the rooms feels like it’s a dungeon. The price is way too high for that depressing room. The carpet is gross. There is nothing on the walls. We needed a place to stay for just one night before we headed off to a lake vacation, and I really regretted not booking at a larger, better hotel. I leave this review to help other people because the photos do NOT represent what the basement room is like. I could not wait to wake up and get out of that musty, damp, and gross room.

i loved staying at the celeste, it's built in an old nunnery and they kept the charm of the old building intact but the rooms are very clean and up to date and well maintained. the gym is small but it has dumbbells up to 50lbs and an adjustable bench which is all i needed for a solid workout. has a nice bar and all the staff are friendly. 5/5 stars
