Motel 6 San Diego, CA - Downtown

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! DO NOT STAY HERE! The pictures listed are not from this property, Hotel staff even confirmed that for me. This hotel is a disgusting crack house! Homeless everywhere, The first room I was offered smelled horrible, a mixture of Cleaning supply, mold and cigarettes. The smell immediately smacked me in the face when I opened the door. Bed sheets dirty with stains. Asked front desk if I could change rooms, they were very nice and helpful to accommodate me. But when I checked into the second room it was the same thing. Musty nasty smell, dirty carpet gross bed. I told them I could not stay here and left. You have been warned! Stay away from this motel!

Things only got worse inside. The overall facility is in awful condition and poorly maintained. I booked a non-smoking room, but the entire building and the room itself reeked heavily of cigarette smoke and piss. For the price charged, the lack of basic cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service is completely unacceptable. Avoid this place.

There was nothing clean about this place nor did it feel safe. No ice machines were working and the staff sat outside smoking and talking every time we came in or left. Parking was advertised as guaranteed but was not all for the hotel it was shared with housing next door and was first come first serve. Luckily we were seeing a show at Petco park which was close enough to walk or ride share easily so we never moved our car. The parking lot and sidewalks outside the building were covering in trash and butts - staff could have made use of all that time they were screwing off in front of the place by picking up the trash that was strewn about. Didn’t expect much but I had high hopes that it would be clean and feel safe at least.

Only positive thing I can say is that it was reasonably priced for a last minute purchase. Would never stay again!

Pleasant

Awful.

My stay at this motel was one off the worst I’ve had. When I arrived the a/c wasn’t not working but I was told repairmen were working on it. It didn’t work at all for my full stay. It was hot in the room day and night and I was unable to sleep. There was water dripping from one of the vents onto the floor in the doorway entry. The shower had mold around the edge. The wall had paint pealing off and the bathroom door had large chips of the door broken off. The hallway carpets for the full floor had stains everywhere that have never been clean. When I walked out my door there was dog poop on the carpet. The management knew of the issues especially the a/c and offered nothing. All they said was it was being worked on. Because of timing of my trip I couldn’t move locations but I feel I paid for more than I actually got and I want what I paid returned. The property has offered nothing. I will never stay there again.

This place is a scary place! It feels so unsafe. No guest parking. Nearest at least a block or more away but walking there is the scariest thing. There was no AC. Wouldn’t offer any solution We walked out of that place. Don’t stay if you’re looking for a decent place to spend your time and money.

Location was good, staff was nice. Rooms are disgusting. It takes a lot for me to leave a review but the only thing clean was the sheets and towels. Mold in the fridge and bathtub. Splatters of god knows what on the floors and walls. Used bar of soap on the sink. Has potential if they just actually deep cleaned.

The best thing about this property is the location. Everything else was fair to poor.

Unfortunately I didn’t read reviews before my stay I was just excited about the event going on , the parking is a** you pull up in a parking spot with a number mines was 16 pay 40 for two days . Let’s say you want to go get something to eat you leave , come back someone parked there !! We look at there paper we leave on dash and also says 16 so we ask and they told us to park next to it we did but to think about it was already taken when we got there so it was already paid for , we had no choice but to stay there and not move . they are unorganized with the parking !! Itd the fact that we didn’t move the car day of event just being afraid to get our parking taken Went into the room , we had to clean our self bro like com on hair all over sheets , and shower that day bs clean

The location was great. They charged an additional $20 a night to park in their lot- AC’s were down in most of the rooms- We had to change our room - Key cards kept malfunctioning - shower only ran hot water- some of the staff had crappy attitudes, especially if you complained about something like the AC and key cards- just an over all unpleasant experience. Motel 6 is usually a comfortable stay, but not this time..

Smelled like crap no ac dirty

One of the worst experiences we’ve ever had at a hotel happened here. Upon arrival we parked in the parking lot which was extremely small, only to find out that there was no parking available and we would have to park 2 blocks away and pay $25. Then we got to the room to see mold on the vents and walls, bugs in the bed and on the floor, no AC. The room reeked of cigarettes, sat on bench seat in the room and the cushion fell off. Overall HORRIBLE conditions. When we told staff they were rude and told us we would have to talk to management the following day but we probably wouldn’t get any type of refund. We ended up having to get a last minute hotel in Pacific Beach. The surrounding area is also sketchy with homeless and others hanging out right outside. 0/10 beware of this hotel.

The Motel 6-Downtown is, overall, a good, pleasant place to say, convenient to most tourist sites in San Diego, especially, Little Italy. My room was comfortable. I had a room which was not adjoining to any other room. My room had what I needed and was roomy. The air conditioning was very mild. It took, at least, two hours in order for the a/c to maintain a comfortable level for me (approx. 72 degrees). My shower had not been well-cleaned. There was a swath of gray gunk on the shower stall. The staff was never less than kind, courteous, and helpful, going beyond the call of duty in holding my luggage on the day of my checkout, which let me do last-minute eating and sightseeing before departing for home.

Nothing, I booked for 3 nights and end up only stay 1 night, just because I arrived at midnight and it was hard to find any other place. It was disguising and unconfutable, it felt like a one of those horrify dirty hotel from American movies, it was one of the most uncomfortable night, I slept with hoddie on my head and at the top of the blanket and not even used the shower. The manager promised me a refund for the 2 nights that I was not that, but I never received it.

Very little communication with the staff, many times would be at desk for assistance for over 20 minutes and no one would be there!

Walking distance to take the SD Trolley was great. Everything was close by in walking. A/C was strong enough to keep fresh air and ice machine wasn’t working at all.
