Unscripted Durham, Part of JDV by Hyatt

Was able to check in early and received a room upgrade. Parking was convenient and walked to the Bulls game and lunch. It said breakfast available but I couldn’t find it. The patio was open for dinner/room service but nothing about breakfast.

The room wasn’t clean, the door to the exit and elevators slammed so loud I could hear it in my room and the wall shakes because of it. The curtains didn’t close over the window looking out to the balcony all the way so the light from outside was shining in the room even through the night.

Cool little hotel with retro vibe. Hotel has built in parking deck for easy parking and check in. The hotel could not be any more convenient to downtown Durham (restaurants, bars, DPAC, Bulls, etc). Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

Disappointing

They should tear this hellhole down, plant grass, and make it a dog park.

It was a great stay. Nice atmosphere inside. Exciting night life. I was overly pleased with the staff they were really nice. My only note is the price. But overall I’d book again!!

The location is excellent with nearby restaurants and entertainment. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The hotel was remodeled from an older motel and still had aspects needed better rennovation (I.e., mildew in the shower, vinyl baseboard needed repair). Parking was convenient and in/out procedures were explained well. The biggest drawback was the noise-loud street traffic, other guest talking loudly outside until 3 am. The rooms had little soundproofing.

The property looks a bit rundown. But great staff and good location.

Pleasant

It was so fun being so close to the pool! The staff were so lovely and accommodating. Unfortunately, the tv in our room was broken, and the smoke alarm needed new batteries so it kept flashing which was disruptive to my kids at night. There were also several cockroaches - both in the room and outside.

Rooms are clean and cozy. The staff was always helpful. Lots of things to do near hotel.

Smelled of mold. Splatters of something all over wallpaper. AC struggled to keep up. This all with an “upgraded” room. I recommend looking elsewhere.
