We stayed in a room on the 2nd floor and enjoyed the communal balcony area. The breakfast had a good variety and was stocked well.

Lovely antique/ boutique style hotel in the heart of historic downtown Durango. Easy walk to the train which was one of our main reasons for visit. Nice breakfast and coffee setup which we used daily including to-go option. Room was small but updated and clean. Second floor room with a small elevator but Oksana was very helpful bringing our luggage up. Good exercise most of the time we used the stairs. The only drawback to the location was proximity to the nightlife across the street so it got a little loud on the weekends with live bands and noisy conversations just below but we enjoyed our stay

Our room was also charming as well. The location was within walking distance of countless restaurants and bars. I would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity.

The General Palmer Historic Hotel is a beautiful, well run historic hotel in downtown Durango, CO. We actually had an inside room without a window and a queen sized bed. It was the quietest room we’ve ever stayed in. They had coffee and tea out all day along with cookies. Breakfast was included every morning along with free parking. The hotel is located next to the Durango-Silverton historic stream train ride. It. It was amazing! We had gorgeous photo’s of the gorges, rivers, forests and the train. Silverton had lots of shops and restaurants to enjoy on our turn around trip. It’s a must trip for all ages!

The inner room was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and the room was a nice size, adequately stocked, and the temperature control was very good. We did not eat breakfast but the area for this was very pleasing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only lacking amenity would be a restaurant.

Wonderful stay

I wanted the taste of the historic hotels and the Palmer was the clear winner. A bargain at twice the price. Neat as a pin, comfortable bed and pillows, killer breakfast. Parking convenient and free. Now my go-to when I return to Durango. Highly recommended.

Rooms too small no tv bathroom too small! Place is a dump !! Over priced

Very good

I liked the charm and style of the hotel. Only complaint would be I awoke at 0400 and could hear an audible hum while laying on my pillow. Sounded mechanical like the floor below air-conditioning or something. I couldn't hear when sitting up just laying down. Like it was coming through the framework of the building. Otherwise fantastic stay. Great staff

the ambiance of the hotel and the parking was very convenient. Close to the train station and the old town shopping. We would highly recommend The General Palmer to travelers going to Durango. Excellent stay.
-
Great hotel staff! All our needs were met and the service was outstanding. We ask for several places that would be close to good food and every restaurant suggested was excellent. The process of check8 g in and out was great and we had free parking at the hotel which was close to activities we were interested in.

Beautiful, quiet, historic hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Conveniently located near Durango/Silverton narrow rail station, restaurants and shops. Loved our stay!
-
The room was exceptional and overlooked the Durango and Silverton Railway station. We had a 2nd story balcony right outside our door. Breakfast every morning was very good with a great selection of hot and cold food as well as fresh fruit and juices. The parking lot was secure and just for Hotel guests. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the historic downtown Durango. I will stay there again.

Very clean, very nostalgic. Loved the Elevator and veranda around the building where one could sit and linger. It was also very close to the Durango to Silverton Railroad Depot. Loved the entire experience
