Horrible service. No customer experience considered. Long wait for check in and check out. Pool was overcrowded and when we tried to go to the beach we were charged for seats that would have been free by the pool if you found any seating, which was impossible. Breakfast sucked and the hostess was lost and looked like she hatted her job and made customers feel it. We were promised three different tables and they were all given to others while we were waiting for tables to get set up. Overall for the money we paid it was ridiculous. We didn’t get the convenience of parking, we didn’t get the convenience of customer service, we did not enjoy our visit.

Melissa at the pool was the only kind and helpful staff of this whole resort.

My family and I just got back from staying at the Del in Coronado. The staff and property it self was wonderful, however what was very disappointing was you couldn’t get in the beach water because of the raw sewage / bacteria that was coming down from the Tijuana River in Mexico. The Del didn’t have any signs about it, and that put a damper on our vacation, since we were coming from NY. That information should have been given to us. The beach water had a yellowish color to it, and the only way we found out, was from locals. In my opinion that is very unprofessional. Information that serious needs to be given upfront.

The Del was a significant disappointment. For the cost paid, you do not get anywhere near the level of service of comparable hotels. While the property is beautiful and historic, the service is not. You are left to your own devices. It is frustrating even when you make them aware of issues you are having. For example, we had issues with a non working safe. Nobody corrected it and hours later let us know that we needed to be in the room for them to fix it. We were out for the day and that was not a solution. Additionally, we lost a credit card and forget trying to speak to a human after you leave the property. We knew which restaurant we had left the card, but were unable to actually speak to a human. We had to physically return to the restaurant to speak to a human after repeated calls to the front desk AND filling out a lost and found form. The options for breakfast are abysmal. We had the option of a $52 breakfast buffet or nothing. A grab and go which was awful and service was a disaster. They do something called a DelDash for in-room service. You cannot simply get coffee for two people with your breakfast order. The ONLY option is a $40 (yes $40) pot. Coffee for $40. Even the Beverly Hills Hotel does not charge that. As a matter of fact, save your money and go to the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The Del is such a wonderful place to stay. For the price you are really paying for the location and property amenities. The room itself doesn’t seem to match the price but is definitely nice enough. I will definitely stay at the Del again. The restaurants, beachfront property, and overall vibe made for a magical stay!

The $100pp we paid for Club membership is not worth spending the extra money. We did not have a proper explanation or understanding of what that entitled us while on property. We were also constantly searching for a staff member to assist us. The staff seemed to be primarily be summer students working a summer job. Perhaps proper training and setting expectation with the younger crew is in order. I’m thinking Del prices justify a level of service one would expect to be matching.

We have stayed at The Del many times and usually it is above average. We visited Friday through Sunday for a quick weekend. Coronado was very busy in general. We tried to get a drink before dinner at the Babcock and Story bar. We sat at a table for 15-20 minutes, no server so we left . I think I saw one person helping every table and they were all full. Need more servers.

On arrival, we had to queue to check in. Hotel staff were neither particularly friendly or helpful. As a family of five, we booked two adjoining rooms as we could not be accommodated in one. Despite keeping the adjoining door open, only one room was cleaned. We contacted reception & were assured someone would come up straight away, but nobody arrived. The pool area looked lovely, but the hotel was extremely busy & we could not find an available sunbed during our stay. The beach was also under a red flag due to high bacteria levels, meaning we could not safely enter the sea. Although this was outside the hotel’s control, we were disappointed not to receive any warning before or during our stay. We were also told beach sunbeds cost an additional $25 per person per day. We were surprised by over £300 in additional charges at the end of our stay, including a historic building tax, on top of what we had already paid. Food & drinks were also extremely expensive, so we ate elsewhere for most meals. I had not realised when booking how accessible the hotel & beach are to the general public & expected the facilities to feel more exclusive given the price. Overall, the experience fell short of what we expected from a hotel of this reputation & price

It is an amazing property set in the beautiful paradise that is Coronado Island. The Del is definitely top notch. Everything from the amenities, to the room, to the ever-helpful staff make the experience one that stands above the rest. We would like to especially recognize Lizze at reception and Vanessa, host of the Ghost Tour, for the passion they show forth in making the guests feel welcome and engaged. Absolutely the best resort vacation we have taken, hands down. We can't wait to stay at the Del again!

Historic, beachfront hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay in Coronado. The hotel restaurants are expensive, but the nearby restaurants are reasonably priced. We loved being able to walk out directly onto the beach.

Simply a superb experience here. The only negative consideration is the inability to swim in the ocean due to Tijuana’s sewage issues.

huge hotel easily got lost but very beautiful. Staff did not warn us about the beach not available for swimming due to sewage which we were really looking forward to we even bough lounge chairs and umbrella by the beach.
