Extended Stay America Suites Detroit Ann Arbor Briarwood Mal

This is a dump , closer to a homeless shelter than a hotel. It is patrolled by the police regularly, sink was clogged , no housekeeping , the smell was bad, and rooms are rundown . The first room I was given had a guy sleeping in the bed. Run, and run fast

Not enough towels for two people had to go the front desk to request additional towels and was told we needed to bring one down to get another one. My wife has long hair and could not shower without an extra towel for her hair. We got one but I had to wait until she could return towels and wash cloth before I could shower unacceptable. Shower rod would not hold the shower curtain, carpet stained, parking lot falling apart. Place needs upgrading staff did not know about any good places to eat. Not much of a breakfast selection.

Nice staff, but the place is in disrepair. It needs a lof of upgrades.

Location and availability of parking AC was not working and I requested a room change because of this. The lady at the reception on Saturday night asked me to leave if I want to and provided a business card to request refund when I move out. This was around 11:30pm.

Breakfast was minimal "grab and go" - instant oatmeal packets, coffee, packaged muffins.

I had a prepaid reservation at this property, and when I arrived at 10 PM was told that they overbooked and didn’t have a room for me. They didn’t offer to find me another one.

The first room offered to me had not been cleaned, had trash lying around and smelled of cigarettes. Front desk apologized and offered a different room The second room was better, but had issues of its own. Floor mouldings were peeled away from the wall near the bed. The TV worked but did not align at all with the channel guide, so it was basically useless. Breakfast was meager - only coffee, breakfast bars and packaged muffins. Parking lot was rough with multiple potholes. Stairwells smelled of trash and bags had piled up. Aside from the front desk staff I did not see any other employees. Overall disappointed in the experience.

Location was decent, it’s a 2-mile walk to the stadium. Same as most other hotels in the area. The hotel is very dirty!!! The room stated no smoking, but clearly there was smoking in the room (picture attached). The whole shower was stained pink, from what I’m assuming was pink hair dye (also, picture attached). The mattress was so worn out by someone’s butt indention on the phone side of the bed, you couldn’t lay flat on the bed. Never walked on the carpet without shoes!!! The whole room was just dirty and I questioned myself several times of even staying in the room or sleeping in my car!!

Staff were super kind and helpful. Rooms were okay, maybe in need of some new bright furniture. Bed was comfortable. Everything was clean. Would appreciate paper slippers.

Needs updating and pest fumigation

1 pillow per person,not enough wash clothes , carpet appeared worn and stained, toilet paper was almost empty

Breakfast needs much improvement and has few options.

Room was decently clean but in poor shape. Bed was comfortable. Refigerator leaked. Facility itself was not clean at all. Abandoned cars in the back. Pretty sure some homeless people may have been living in the parking lot. We booked a room with 2 beds and only got one, but was told that was an issue with Expedia. Our son had to sleep in a torn up chair. We got in late and only stayed one night so I guess it was worth the low price.

I’ve stayed at this place a couple times over the years and it has become more rundown each time. The carpets are old and even though I was in a non smoking room, there was an odor of old smoke. There was a missing cover for a ceiling lamp, and only 2 pillows were provided on the bed, one of which was missing a pillow case. The refrigerator had something spilled on the door that had not been cleaned up. Nothing was provided in the kitchenette. Not even a coffee maker. I won’t be back.

No air conditioning. Cigarette stains on sheets. No help from hotel staff. Never start again

The first room had a dirty bathroom with hair in the sink and tub. The desk clerk was very helpful in helping us find another room. We went through 4 more rooms since there were no more doubles available and found 2 suitable rooms. Even then the one had toothpaste in the sink and soap around the rim. The elevator was dirty and had a dirty rubber glove on the floor. They need to learn how to properly clean the bathrooms. There was no problem with the rest of the room. The staff was wonderful, but this property looks like the owner doesn't care. The breakfast had no real choices.

Hotel ran out of clean towels and pillows. Staff was friendly. Property was outdated with an odor and not very clean.
