The building is beautiful as are the rooms and furnishings. Can't fault the location so handy to everything a short walk to the rocks, opera house and town. We looked out on a construction site - the new metro. We didn't think it would be a problem apart from not the nicest outlook as it was a weekend. Our specific purpose for the trip was to rest and sleep in. However, we were woken up by the pounding of a large drill and construction noise on Saturday and Sunday morning. I also suffer from tinnitus so the pounding noise was amplified for me. There was nowhere that advertised the work that was in progress, however we did wonder when we found earplugs in the room. Disappointed with the response of staff when mentioned they said it's on the website. We searched it's not!

The hotel is an easy walk from the art gallery of NSW, the state library and the domain parklands. It’s a historic building which is interesting, very modern and comfortable inside though, excellent 5 star comfort. Nothing. I found it a relaxing and peaceful haven from which to explore the city. The staff were eager to assist, friendly and skilled, welcoming in the foyer, helping with bags. The business lounge was lovely for breakfast, and enough for dinner. Swimming pool and spa and steam room to relax I .

The location of the hotel was excellent, making it easy to get around Sydney. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The service throughout our stay was outstanding, with everyone going out of their way to be helpful and welcoming. The only downside was the pool area, which feels quite dated and could benefit from an upgrade to better match the quality of the rest of the hotel.

Great location, great breakfast, great staff, beautiful rooms The beds were a little to firm for me.

Curtains closed for our entire stay. No view, due to construction, so missed opportunity for complete experience.

The hotel was overall very good, however we did have a significant problem. We paid extra to be upgraded to a King Heritage Room only to discover that our room was located directly opposite the building site for the Hunter Street Metro station. Initially enquires revealed that the building site operated mainly during the day so we figured, while not ideal, we would simply be woken at 7am when work commenced. WRONG - the site operates 24/7. The duty Manager said this wasn't the case, it only operated overnight occasionally and they would be notified - clearly this was not the truth. In the hotel's defence, they did offer to move us to another room for our second night but this was not practical as we had a meeting that required clothes that hadn't been folded up in bags all day. After the second sleepless night we expected that at least the extra we paid for the room upgrade would be refunded, only to be told that this was impossible as we had booked through Booking.com. In fact there were lots of options that the Paradox Hotel could have taken to make our stay better - particularly if they had informed us about the existence of the building site opposite in the first instance. We strongly suggest that both Booking.com and the Paradox Hotel warn their guests that there is building site operating 24/7 outside many of the Heritage King rooms.

    Todo

Breakfast was nice. Good selections. Omelet station was a big hit. The shower tile floor was very slippery. Very dangerous. Also needed grab bars in shower. Not into tubs at all so considered that a waste of good space.
