Front desk staff was rude on check-in. We won't be back.

We have been staying at Hyatt Newport for many years and have, in the past, appreciated the location and resort feel. However, during our last couple of stays, we have had issues when checking in with the fact that we booked through Expedia. Several times during our check-in for this recent stay the representative said he could not help us because we had booked through expedia. It had already been a difficult travel day and his bias and lack of hospitality ruined that first day and experience. In my mind, a hotel guest is a guest and they should be treated the same way - it should not matter if Expedia was used for booking, or any other third party system. In fact, Hyatt could block other vendors if they do not want folks to use them. Guests should also know that this Hyatt charges a $40/night resort fee, whether or not you use the "resort" and self park, which is quite a distance if you have luggage, is $42/night.

I know hotels suffered a great deal in CA due to the horrible policies during COVID.. Hoping they will get caught up with a bit room renovations.. new carpet would be a good start. The hotel is always clean and the staff is wonderful.

The check-in process started a little bumpy, but I think it was due to an individual employee named Catrina. She was very unfriendly, unhelpful and rude. However, everyone else was amazing and made up for her bad attitude. We enjoyed ourselves.

Room could have been cleaner, sheets had stains. Property somewhat messy.

the pools were great especially the kids pools such a great trip totally recommend for a family

Great room, fun pool and great staff. We live local, but just wanted a quick getaway for our anniversary. We would stay here again for sure.
-
This is such a beautiful hotel. The customer service was top-tier. With the exception of our cabana waitress , the employees went out of their way to satisfy our needs and put smiles on all of our faces! The oasis pool is so much fun , and very family friendly.

Easy loxation

Great location very central to all Newport Beach and Laguna. Great hotel! Absolutely zero complaints.

The staff was outstanding from the valet to check-in as well as bar/coffee bar staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and good at their jobs. The room had great space with a comfortable bed. We enjoy a jazz concert at the amphitheater. The venue was perfect for an outdoor concert.
-
It's a great location to stay after the jazz series concert.
-
Location by Back Bay is the bomb. Little 9 hole golf course was a fun way to work on your short game. Access to bikes and pickleball was perfection. Airport noise is not an issue indoors. Would stay here again.

The staff was friendly. The hotel itself, was in horrible shape!! Shocking for "Newport Beach" We stayed in the back of the hotel Lido Building. This building looked like we were in a time warp and hadn't been updated since the 90"s!! The landscape was horrible, and there were cobwebs on the metal posts outside, everywhere!! The patio/ pool furniture was old and dirty. I thank God we only booked one night stay here for the summer concert series!! Or, I would have demanded our money back and stayed elsewhere. Very sad and disappointing. We had dinner at Shore restaurant. The food was just ok. Nothing special. Overall, we will not be staying here again. I get that hotels by the beach are pricey. This place is reasonable. But that said, they should still strive to at least have a clean, and welcoming ambiance for their customers....instead we got old, not well maintained, shabby, and very disappointing

The grounds are a bit old and getting run down . The rooms were clean and well kept, but could also use an update . Strongly recommend that they put a nightlight in the bathroom, it was so dark we could not get around unless the light was on And the lights are super bright, not so easy to get around the room at night .
-
The rooms are small and need an update. We came more than 10 years ago and it’s probably not changed since then. Rooms give no wow factor for money paid
-
The place was outdated and had ants in my room. The staff did quickly move me to a new room, so I really appreciate that. I wouldn't be back.
-
My room was very dated and dark, but the staff was super helpful and nice, loved all the amenities and especially the complementary hit class and bicycles.
