The room was poor. The bathroom was too small. Sink had no water pressure and poorly designed faucet. Too low. The toilet too small. When showering couldn’t help flooding the floor no matter how tried to prevent them floor and mat soaked. The fitness center smelt horribly of mildew and mold, we couldn’t stay and work out. Air conditioner worked. A bit noisy

Staff was helpful but room was musty and warm. AC didn't work great. Sink water had rusty color. Wall paper was peeling off. So not the most comfortable room, but staff was helpful. Rooftop bar was very nice.

Very small room, no space to put the luggage - phones were disconnected - could not contact reception from the room - not a good experience overall

Room was clean. Served it’s overnight sleeping purposes. Thanks

Great place to stay on the West side.

good hotel with friendly staff, wish the rooms were a bit updated

Very good hotel especially for the price a location. Clean and quiet. Would stay here again.

Unfortunately, the condition of the room was only part of the problem. The most disturbing incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 2:00 PM. A hotel employee came to my door accompanied by a security officer and a dog, and they proceeded to have the dog sniff throughout my room. The entire hotel had a strong smell of marijuana, and apparently my room was also checked. I have no knowledge of whether the same procedure was carried out in other rooms, but having a security officer and a dog enter the room area without any prior explanation was extremely uncomfortable and unsettling. For a hotel with The Empire’s reputation and pricing, I expected a significantly higher standard of maintenance, service, and guest experience. Overall, this was not the quality of stay I would expect from this hotel, and unfortunately, I will not be staying at The Empire Hotel again.

The location of the hotel was nice. Close to Central Park, Lincoln Center, subway, shops and a Starbucks next door. The room decor was very outdated and could use some fixing up. No safe in our room, although advertised as having one. Nice size TV and bed was decent. You could get bottled water from the front desk every day so that was really nice and the staff was very friendly. We had brunch on a Sunday at the restaurant on the Mezzanine level and it was really good. Highly recommend eating there. The rooftop pool is extremely small and the gym was decent. The shower faucet fell off and I feel like the bathroom needs to be updated. No extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom which was weird. Overall, it was okay for the amount of time we spent in the room

Staff were amazing. I made an error with my booking but they were able to assist

The staff were fabulous and very friendly and helpful the lobby is gorgeous. Our room was ok but one window blind didn’t work and the bathroom cupboard door was hanging off. I would say the room was clean, but you can tell it is older and needs some maintenance.
-
Our toilet felt like it was going to break every time we sat down, the bathroom door would not close, or lock as well as window shutter was broken and people can see into our room.

Booked my Ist solo trip to NYC here and had so much fun by myself and felt extremely safe in this area and with the staff. A friend joined me later in the week and we also did the Gossip girl Experience with mini brunch it's so cute!! Not far from downtown either and plenty to do with a mall near and more. I even walked the Hudson River one morning, and few steps from Central Park too. A glamourous hotel and location, 10/10 recommend!

I had a terrible check in experience due to a mistake on the hotel staff’s side & getting it rectified by Expedia took over an hour. My travelling companions who had also used Expedia had no issues. The front desk person just shrugged & said I had to take things up with Expedia.

Do not book based off the photos as the rooms are nothing like what is shown. Lobby is beautiful + well maintained. Employees were friendly + housekeeping was good. I don't know what kind of lens they were using to shoot the photos on this site, but the rooms were tiny compared to what was shown. Beds were small and extremely uncomfortable. No walking space, bathroom so small that you had to shimmy against the wall to close the door. The gym wasn't hardly usable with more than 3 people in it. Our shower had a soap caddy falling off the wall and our conditioner bottle (attached to wall) was there upon check-in but then went missing after the 2nd day of our stay + never replaced. Old building, so to be expected to a degree, but room was just far more rundown than what I was led to believe from the hotels.com website. Regardless - the location is great and because we only had 3 travelers, it worked. I thought we had found a decent deal on a gorgeous hotel, but just turned out to be a decent deal on a beautiful lobby and rundown room. Not even saying I wouldn't stay again, just a bummer when you are led to believe you're getting something different from what you receive.
