Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hood River by IHG

An ordinary, smallish hotel and not a glamorous one, but the staff made our stay outstanding. Cheerful, welcoming, accommodating to several special requests. Before our next visit to Hood River we won't need to shop the hotels: we'll stay again at this one!

I came at 1 pm and was told my room would be ready at 4 pm. I showed up a little after 4 and still had to wait 30 minutes. That is unacceptable. I signed up for a king bed and got 2 queens

Room was comfortable, very clean. Soundproofing not so great to the hallway. Overall a good stay for the price. We’d stay here again.

Breakfast is probably the best complementary hotel breakfast I have had. Staff were all friendly and location was great to explore the Columbia River Gorge area. Highly recommend!

We had a view of the river but both rooms I booked had a wierd lounge chair that was uncomfortable and did not allow for 2 people to sit and enjoy the view or room. Fridge did not have a freezer and I travel with medicine that I place in an ice pack.

It doesn't matter how big, clean and well furnished the rooms are if you can't get in them. Check-in at 4pm is frustrating enough after a long day on the road. Being told repeatedly our room was almost ready until we finally got in at 4.30pm was extremely annoying. Apparently the hotel had only two housekeepers who couldn't handle the turnaround in rooms. What made it worse was having to sit there and wait while others walked in and were immediately given room keys. Not good enough, Holiday Inn.

Clean. I was surprised. I think the holiday inn express ranks higher than Hampton inn. Very nice place.

Very clean and well maintained

(Unfortunately the bathroom had several black hairs upon my arrival.)

Room was fine and standard. I think I saw someone at the front desk maybe 3 times in the 4 nights/5 days we were there. Not sure if they were short staffed or what but overall everything was fine. Josh was the most helpful when we checked in. Other than that barely saw anyone working excluding the cleaning staff. They were working a lot on our floor.

Location and facilities were fine. Initial contact with front desk was unfriendly and unhelpful within the posted check in times. The fitness room smelled musty and unclean so I did not use it. To top it off, our bathroom shower was unclean and had hair gathered in the drain. There were no cleaning staff available to clean it. We ended up cleaning the shower ourselves with supplies provided by Felicia, the front desk staff. (She was the shining light of the stay!!) I booked the room through a third party for a regular room well in advance with rooms still available but were placed in a ADA room. When asked if we could be moved, the answer was “we’re full.
