Lovely staff and breakfast!
-
The breakfast was fine but some things are now only on weekends It was dirty, the fan in our room was covered in dirt. There was no hot water in the evening. The happy hour had no food and only served wine, finally said she could pour some straight alcohol. They overcharged one in our party by $80 and still haven’t received credit

It was a very pretty hotel. The staff was very friendly and great. Breakfast was tasty. They had good recitations of things to do in the area. The downtown was walkable. We easily got a shuttle with them to the cruise port. We would stay here again. The room was a little hot when we first arrived even with the AC on. As the sun went down, it was pleasant and fine.

It’s was DEFINITELY the Belle of the ball as far as eye candy . The outside was well manicured. 1st was I was charged $30 for transportation which I neither requested or indicated I needed. I’m sure if my records had of been checked BEFORE my account was hit the mistake would have been caught. I drove 4 1/2 hours in my Tesla to the property and to the port MYSELF. The owner is usually pretty good at correcting things, but as of this post my account is short $30. I feel they should have MORE staff. There was only one young lady there doing EVERYTHING at check in and beyond. She was cleaning when I came, assisted with baggage did the happy hour all by herself with at least ten guest. I personally feel she needs help. I was NOT impressed with the cleanliness of the towel there and it look like a poop stain smeared on the thing that said what was for breakfast. You can judge for yourself I’ve included a photo of the towel with some kinda yellow stain and the card. I wasn’t gonna investigate further in case it was. Not my job and other than those two things the room was indeed ready to receive guest.

The history of the house and staff and guests. Portable air conditioner was loud and unable to regulate temperature in room.

We appreciated the large and comfortable room in this beautiful location, which was better than a standard hotel room! The low traffic area made for a quiet and restful stay. The historic charm of the Mansion on 17th will keep you coming back! The entire property is well maintained and very clean. The staff is welcoming and very personable! The air conditioning works well. The nightly social hour provides guests a chance to socialize with snacks and wine, beer, or a cocktail. The breakfast is a wonderful way to start our day! We appreciated the close proximity to the Strand, where we enjoyed restaurants and shopping. We even walked to the Galveston Railroad Museum during our stay.

Location was good to get to activities The place was just sold and is under a management company now. I have stayed at this place 7 times in the past, and I knew from the start something was up. I booked way over 3 months ago and requested 3 specific rooms. The management company messed up 1 room and double charge a family member on a second room. During their happy hour nothing was set up like in the past, the facility was not clean, and the air did not work so our room was about 85. No one told us before our stay, nor even offer to compensate us for a terrible night stay. We booked there rooms at a time, but will not rebook again.

Very poor

Air conditioning was good, comfy bed. Great location minutes from port and restaurants. Check in and out was easy. No elevator, so you’ll have to carry luggage upstairs unless you get the one room on first floor. Complimentary breakfast was simple but delish. Room was nice size with luggage rack and closet space. Coffee available on first floor. Had a great stay.

The Location As a 65-year-old couple, we were forced to carry 50 lbs suitcases up 3 stories with no elevator. The room assigned were in the solder, had no windows and zero ventilation. The AC could not cool the room, evidenced by two fans left in the room. It was so stifling and unsafe that we had to sleep with our room door open to the public hallway, with fan in it, just to get air. This is a severe breach of basic hospitality safety and health standards.

This was a really cool place close to the beach and restaurants

We absolutely loved our stay at Mansion on 17th! It’s such a cute, charming property with tons of character and heritage. It feels completely different from a typical modern hotel, which is exactly what made it so special. The property was clean, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was lovely. You can really appreciate the history and personality of the building. Our only minor downside was that the sound carries quite a bit between rooms. That said, it’s an older historic property, so it’s understandable and honestly part of what comes with staying somewhere with this much character. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a charming, historic place to stay in Galveston rather than a generic hotel.

We loved learning about the history of the home and the area. It was lovely to see the historic homes and take a tour of the Bishop’s Palace nearby.

We loved our brief stay at The Mansion on 17th. The Hitchcock room was beautiful as was the entire property. We really enjoyed the little social hour that included complimentary drinks and good conversation with the other guests. The breakfast was delicious too! Overall very pleased with our stay and look forward to next time!

Our stay was fantastic the staff was friendly and accommodating! Our room was clean and cool with a nice A/C unit. We stayed 3 nights. The last night was not so great due to very loud residents upstairs but no fault to the bnb or staff! The included breakfast is amazing!
