JB Duke Hotel

Nice hotel on the beautiful Duke campus. Our room was down a long hall then up a long ramp behind a glass door. A bit weird. A little warning from the front desk about getting to the room would have helped. But, the room itself was quite nice! All good. Nice bed & sheets & all the nice things. The next morning we went to the dining room for breakfast. The buffet looked nice. We could not find a waiter to take our order or tell us the price of the buffet. We had an appointment to make that morning so we left without breakfast. It looked very nice, though.

Adjacent self parking garage is free if you are a guest of the hotel. Was not informed of this and paid the first time I exited, but hotel took information to get reimbursed. Will see! Otherwise clean, spacious, useful fitness room, bathroom amenities provided; no free water bottles, but an empty caraf and glasses are provided in the room & in the hallway is free filtered water dispenser (cold, hot or ambient temps) along with a communal microwave. Convenient to Duke U, Nasher Art Museum, Sarah P Duke Gardens, ninth street and area with great restaurants. Pleasant stay.

The hotel is well kept and clean. The complimentary breakfast was better than your typical continental breakfast.

Never had an experience as bad as JB Duke! Not only did they not make up my room after my first night there, they accused me of placing a do not disturb sign on the door when none was on after 10:30AM when I went to breakfast(they can check security camera to confirm, also some witnesses, I made it a point to place it in the closet when I left). What made it worse was that the general manager Brittany did not assist with making us whole for this inconvenience but just accused us and offered to just "let housekeeping know" the next day. Only after I insisted did they move us to a clean room (that I paid $$$ for btw). They need to understand that for a AAA 4 Diamond Hotel, customer satisfaction and customer service is #1. What they should've done was 1. Apologize 2. Offer to move us ( as housekeepers left by 5:30PM when we got back. ) 3. offered is some form of credit, ie 25-50% off our 1st night stay or hotel credit. That is what a 4 Diamond hotel would've done. I will never stay here and will let all I know my here.

Had a lovely visit at the JB Duke. We need to travel to the area frequently and just discovered this great hotel. The rooms are cozy and clean, the beds are super comfortable and we took full advantage of the dining room and had a great meal after a long day. Highly recommend staying here and looking forward to our next booking.

Location excellent for Duke U access

Everything else was perfect especially the friendly staff and shuttle drivers except the location of the room. Our room window was facing the drop off area of the hotel so every time when cars arrive to the lobby, the headlights of each car directly ran though our room and me in the bed. I realized soon checked from outside myself that any one at the drop off area can see our room and anyone laying in our bed which means zero privacy. That was very unpleasant especially at night for sleep so we had to keep our curtain shut all times, no window views. Please don’t sell the unit.

Very nice hotel. Staff were pleasant, helpful and available for any question. Room was very comfortable, spacious and clean. Was only an overnight trip but we would come back in a heartbeat.

Great hotel. Convenient to Duke hospital. Room was spacious and comfortable. Much nicer than any Hamptons Inn for the same price.
