Such a beautiful hotel! Stayed here while in Chicago for a concert and had an excellent time!

Great location for first time visitor to Chicago.

Beautiful historic building, but it feels cramped between the hundreds of people out front, in the lobby, virtually everywhere you go - including the elevators, which staff use to move big carts up and down all day long. It's too bad they filled in the swimming pool, it would be a great amenity.

Noisy, lots of street noise until very late. There was also a wedding when we were there and it took over the entire hotel. I was a bit disappointed in the overall vibe. The food was good and the staff was super friendly.

However, there were a few things that could be improved. The hotel does not have a swimming pool, and the pillows were not very comfortable for sleeping. Also, the bathroom layout could have been designed better—the bathroom door often hits the toilet when opening or closing, which makes the space feel a little awkward and inconvenient. Other than these minor issues, I really enjoyed my stay and appreciated the charm, character, and history of this beautiful hotel.

Difficult to get into the restaurants you will need to make reservations ahead of time. Busy hotel.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Location was great, right across the bean, straight walk up to riverside walk. Lots of cool bars and restaurants Very busy with weddings so a number of bars were closed to the public

My daughter and I truly loved every bit of the hotel. We tried to utilize all of the amenities. From the Ives, to the handroll place, to breakfast in the drawing room and the fun in the game room. We even shot some hoops on the Stagg court. If there had been a swimming pool, we definitely would’ve used it as well. I have never fully used a hotel quite like we did this one with eating in just about every spot. Had drinks at Cindy’s on the rooftop two nights in a row. I do enjoy an old hotel and know that it has a lot of character did not mind the elevator at all being a little slow. The only thing I could possibly think to improve upon would be a really good dusting of everything. The room was clean, but sometimes I felt like there was a lot of dust in some of the high reaching places in the main lobby. Our shower had fabulous pressure and all the products were great. I will definitely recommend this to anybody going to Chicago and I will stay here again. Even though I’d like to stay at different hotels every time I come into a city. Also great location right across from the park. I was able to catch a free symphony concert while we were there as well. The valet staff were super nice as was the rest of the hotel staff! I would give it five out of five stars! And the only negative again would be I did not feel it was perhaps as clean as it could’ve been in the public areas.

Super charming with interesting history. Not sterile and torched. Not great for kids below age 8 but really fun for ages 8+.

Lovely stay celebrating my son's 13th birthday! Complimentary champagne vouchers to welcome us, and a sweet little birthday treat left in the room. Will return again!

I’m a repeat customer because I always love staying at this great hotel! Perfect location and old school vibe.

I was very disappointed in my stay; I only stayed with hopes my son would be able to enjoy the indoor basketball court; but it seems it’s always booked for some other event it’s not available. I called weeks before I booked to find out the schedule for the courts and was told a week bf arrival I would get an schedule of bookings for the court, and I decide to keep

Great clubby feel. Fun game room.

My suite Room was super sexy complete with a pommel horse at the end of the bed. The history was so rich throughout the beautiful old architectural gem! I especially loved the breakfast room , the food was awesome. The rooftop bar had amazing views and the margs were not too shabby. Great vibe!!

MY girlfriends and I did a one-night staycation and had a great time. I was a little worried the room would be too small but it was very spacious and the two double beds were actually just fine for our purposes. We went to dinner nearby and walked to Millenium Park across the street. Great location and love Cindy's rooftop for drinks.
